From the time you turn this unit you wonder what Garmin was thinking. Its hard to use, has a smaller screen than previous units (GPSMAP172C, for example), and the user manual is virtually useless...it doesn't even explain how to use many of the basic features. Also of note is the reduction in buttons which result in having to use too many sub-menus (by the time you figure out how to use the MOB feature the MOB will be a gonner). Way too complicated....took me hours to try to figure out how to use the features. On the plus side the screen is very bright even if the resolution is not the greatest (block letters are not as easy to read) and a good set of marine charts is standard. Its not all bad and it does do the job reasonably well, just a step backwards and very pricy. Garmin....you can do better!

Overall, a nice tablet. Unfortunately for me, it was not what I was looking for. After owning it for 8 mo., I understand what it is capable of and not capable of.

PROS-
1. lightweight- I can almost not feel it in my hands.
2. fast- both while operating and while booting up.
3. keyboard- as most tablets do not have this, it is a plus, even if it is reduced in size.
4. physical quality- overall, very sturdy.
5. graphics- Amazing quality graphics, can play many games with ease.
6. camera- though I never used it much, the camera looked pretty good.

CONS-
1. OS- I personally do not like the Android OS, especially on a tablet that feels like a real laptop.
2. screen- fingerprints and scratches show up very easily.
3. No DVD Drive- I thought there would be one, but I was mistaken.

So if you are looking for something more like a laptop, please do go and buy a cheaper laptop- it will save you the trouble I had. But if you are actually looking for a tablet, then this would be a very good choice.

This product rocks so far! Prices have been coming down, and I wanted an SSD that had the same capacity as my internal hard drive.

I have a 15-inch Macintosh unibody laptop (mid 2010) running OS X 10.7 "Lion" with a 500G internal hard drive. A friend put a roughly 120G SSD in his, and put the old HD in place of the DVD-ROM using an adapter you can find on Amazon. (He put the "superdrive" in an external USB enclosure, also available on Amazon.) (I decided I like having an internal DVD drive.) After research, I bought a $12 2.5" USB SATA enclosure and put the SSD in it. I have OS X on my "Time Machine" external backup drive. After cleaning up my internal drive to get rid of junk (using free program "Disk Inventory X" to find big wasteful files,) I booted from the backup drive so my internal drive was static and could be copied to SSD. Then I cloned my internal drive to the SSD using a program I bought called SuperDuper (which has always performed well for me.) (You might try Carbon Copy Cloner too.) For a day, I ran my system from the cloned version via USB choosing it as the startup disk. I also did a backup of it. Then I put the SSD inside my Mac in place of my old HD (my unibody Mac opens with three long and a bunch of short screws on the bottom. (While in there, you may as well insert the maximum RAM too.) I re-booted with no external drives attached--blazingly fast! (And I don't even take advantage of the 6GB transfer because my Mac is old--but if I get a new one this SSD drive is going into it.) Finally, there is a free program called TrimEnabler that enables TRIM (which tells the SSD which blocks the OS is not using, so it can pre-erase them for later use instead of having to first erase and then re-write (because SSDs need to write to blank blocks instead of over-writing written blocks.) TrimEnabler saw my SSD and allowed me to enable TRIM without using Terminal to modify system files. ("Lion" and >10.6.8 permit TRIM support.) The main reason for this review is to help others with Macs do what I did with shortcut info and less research.

What a nice kit - $350 for it all, just $20 more than the black version. I do like this white version better - it's slick. I would almost think that apple designed this camera.

I read a bunch of reviews before taking the plunge and most of them just bashed on it's auto focus speed. Then everybody agreed that the new firmware made it so much better. Well I was skeptical about the AF issues, couldn't be that bad, must be DSLR owners bashing a camera that's more for the point and shoot crowd. I was mostly right - it's not a big deal, with this update it's perfectly acceptable. You shouldn't be using the most complex algorithm for focusing in night scenes either way - it's just not the smart way to go. And yes the competitors probably fair better, but this is/WAS it's only issue. The price is amazing for such a feature rich camera that is so small too - it is heavy though, one wouldn't think that when looking at the small slick metally white body. For me that's a plus, won't make me forget I am holding it and throw it/bump it by mistake.

It shoots some great photos in low light conditions - NO FLASH necessary. I was surprised it was able to capture such magnificent pictures at night, in near dark conditions. It's got a fancy night scenery mode that helps a lot in such cases too. The size of the sensor is probably the real reason though.

The battery is not the greatest though, you might need to order some extra ones. With a 16gb sd card it can shoot 480 Raw + Large JPEG pics, but the battery probably won't last that long, more like 160 shots - but I am still playing around with it.

Very happy with my first mirror-less camera, I never liked the bulkiness of DSLRs, just too much to carry around. I bet the next version will be even better - I just hope it's price is as good too.
