Elite Screens VMAX119XWS2 VMAX2 Electric Projection Screen (119-Inch 1:1 AR) Review

I bought this screen along with the Optoma HD20 High Definition 1080p DLP Home Theater Projector (Grey) for my home theater and it shows a fabulous picture.

Out of the box it was well assembled and the only thing required of me were my own mounting screws. I was pleased to see an RF and IR remote included for operating the screen as well as the optional wall mount switch with an optional 12V toggle.

Installation was simple, my friend and I mounted it to wall studs and finished in about 30 minutes. Like I said, all you need to buy are your choice of mounting screws as the case ships fully assembled and ready to mount. It takes about 40 seconds for the screen to completely lower or raise up. This is by design since this isn't a tensioned screen. If the motor were too fast, the screen might get folded up during rolling and cause a nasty crease or wrinkle like a window shade that went up too fast. The slow retraction makes sure this doesn't happen. This doesn't bother me anyway because it takes me longer than that to warm up the projector and find a Blu-Ray to watch. The electric motor is very quiet too as a bonus.

The quality of the screen material was astounding. I had heard some users having wrinkled screens but my screen turned out nice and smooth. Colors and blacks turn out nicely on it when watching movies. Let me tell you also, 150 inches of real-estate looks flat-out beautiful. Words cannot describe it.

I have to give this a 5-star rating because it exceeded what my original expectations were and has really enhanced my home theater experience for a really good price. Good luck.

Nodal Ninja 3 MKII w/Rotator R-D16 (WITH CASE) Review

This is a very nicely made product with excellent support from the manufacturer that performs its intended function perfectly as long as your camera is not too big. A Panasonic GH2 with Olympus 75mm lens fits with a little room to spare.

My only complaint is the documentation. It comes with several bags of extra parts and only a printed brochure - no assembly instructions or operating instructions. After some searching I was able to locate these on their web site, but the instructions are not very detailed. Eventually it all makes sense, but don't expect to start using it right out of the box.

If you want to use this with Arca-Swiss Q/R plates, you will have to purchase a lever-operated clamp from some other manufacturer as the clamp they sell is operated by a thumb screw that interferes with the operation of the device. In fairness they warned me it was not recommended and offered to let me return it if it didn't work.

The analog tone generator sends a signal through wires for locating and tracing wires with a probe (sold separately), and has five distinct SmartTone cadences for isolating individual wire pairs. This product saved me a bundle of cash and time. I had a troublesome coaxial cable problem that was intermittent in a section of 400 feet of buried cable. The Fluke TS-90 helped me to localize the problem to within 10 feet, the readings fluctuated probably because of the varying moisture conditions in the cable. I purchaed a Fluke Pro3000 Toner and Probe to get a more accurate fix of the problem, but that was no help. Using the TS-90 initial location indications I went to the nearest old cable splice; I respliced and sealed the cable junction and the problem totally disappeared. I am very happy with the TS-90 because I was able to locate the cable problem without several cable excavations or splicing operations.
