beyerdynamic MMX 300 Premium Gaming Headset Review

I actually brought these off another site for $246 but still wanted to list a review for people undecided.
I have had a fair good bit of headsets/headphones ad700 dt880 pc360's
I decided to finally buy these and was not disappointed at all.
First off I like to say the are great for gaming and music. My ad700 I use purely for fps but I don't miss them at all. Switching from gaming session to listening to music was nice not to have to tweet settings.
These are closed earphones which I am finding I prefer now over open. I can barely tell difference in soundstage from my ad700s which supposedly have the largest one.
Comfort: I'd give it a 9/10 the new headband is nice but I can tell these are made for large to medium heads. Took a few days of adjustments to find my sweet spot. They could of made the headband a little larger and more cushion.
Mic: 10/10 no reason to even discuss it. You won't be disappointed
Sound: 10/10 good for gaming/music. Even though I have a PC. I just use a Asus Xonar U3 with it and its prefect for tweeting between games and music. If you more music hungry then I suggest better sound card or a fio amp.
Cons: no mute button or swivel mic mute like pc360, price
About price: I would not suggest spending $400 for these just better off get the pc360 for $170, but if you can find these in the $250-$300 price range then I say pull the tigger.
Another big plus is 5 year warranty.

Premium Home Theater Installation Review

The technicians came in at 8am, right on time, to install 2 TVs with wall mounts and to install a home theater system with speakers on the walls, hide the wires, and connect it all together. They sent 2 guys, and a manager stopped by mid-day to make sure we were happy (without request), and stayed for an hour. They were here for nearly 12 hours, with the first 2 hours planning and deciding on how we wanted to do it. There only limitation is that they will not rip down dry wall. A contractor needs to do that, and for very custom installations you need a contractor or someone confident in dry wall as they will only drill and fish. That being said they did a wonderful job and the outcome was beautiful without it, and we learned to trust them and their judgment after a few hours of good work. They took their time, were extremely professional, wore booties inside the house, and when a change was necessary requiring extra time, they did it with patience and no complaint. Even after having everything hooked up, we realized we forget to give them a module of our surround system, and they once again fished through the wall, without a single skowl. They were beyond friendly and helpful, and we would not hesitate to use them again. The installations were so extremely clean and well planned.

CIB K808AV500G8653 8CH Network Security Surveillance KIT w/ Eight CCD Cameras... Review

I bought the 8 camera system from USA Security listed here. I would have given five stars, but it's four for the product - not the firm.

The company shipped out a package missing a power supply for the main DVR unit. However, when I wrote and called to complain, they immediately shipped out a replacement power supply without any trouble whatsoever. This firm seemed committed to resolving sales problems for its customers, and for that I'm grateful. I'd definitely buy from them again, and would recommend others purchase from the firm as well.

The device works as advertised. Images from the cameras are straight 480i, and what's recorded is really about 320i, but then again - so what. I'm not making a movie, I'm recording video of the exterior of a property. I don't care about image quality, I care about having proof for insurance adjusters and law enforcement. I've installed about half the cameras and got the DVR working, so I can say for certain that it works as advertised.

However, and here's why the fifth star is missing, the DVR system is based on Linux. It's clearly imported hardware from China. Unfortunately, the manufacturer doesn't include source code for the Linux portion of the product. Yet, that's a requirement of the GPL license agreement for Linux. Frankly, I doubt USA Security has any control over their Chinese manufacturers - they're likely just buying in bulk and selling an imported product. But they should know that if they could get their customers source code, folks like me just might improve it. I'll need the root password too.

For the vast majority of potential buyers, this is not an issue. If you want a cheap 8 cam security system, this device will do the trick. But it sure would be nice if these manufacturers actually read and followed the license agreements of the Free Software they base their products upon. Following that license would actually benefit them and their customers as well.

Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC Lens for Pentax and Samsung Digital SLR Cameras Review

This is a sweet little lens that really has no middle ground. You either love it or hate it. Most of the haters really either expect too much from this lens such as focusing in no light or on objects with no contrast and marginal light. The other reason there are detractors come from focus issues.

This seems to be a user problem in my opinion. When you shoot at f 1.4, the area in focus can be pretty shallow. An example is at f1.4 and at a distance of 5 feet, the areas in focus is just .45 feet. If you have a DSLR with multiple focus points, you might find what you want in focus is not selected by the camera. This gives the impression of a focus issue with the lens which it is not.

If you move into close focusing such as 2 feet using f1.4, the focus area becomes less than � of an inch. Even the slightest movement by you or the subject can blow the focus. Again, this is not a lens problem but a user issue.

However, don't be discouraged by the above comments. This lens has so many possibilities from creative images to group portraits to low light photography. You just need to put in a little effort to learn the lens (and your DSLR). Also remember that stopped down to f4 at 10' gives you 5.45 feet in focus.

The 30mm lens also is about as close to a 50mm lens on a 35mm film SLR as there is. A 50mm lens was considered the de facto standard for an SLR in the old days and many people never had anything else. This is a very versatile lens.

The lens itself has an excellent build quality and includes extras such as a lens hood and case. It is sharp and offers great contrast and compares well against such a well regarded lens as the Canon 35mm f1.4L which is about 3 times the price.

You will not be disappointed in this lens at all and I highly recommend it. It is one of my favorite everyday lenses for my Canon 20D. (My everyday kit includs the Canon 17-40mm f4L, 70-200mm f4L, and a Canon 580ex flash.)
