PF-Pentax Ricoh Imaging for spotting scope camera adapter K Mount-ca35 Review

I should have purchased this imaging adapter a long time ago. I've been doing prime, eyepiece projection, and afocal projection imaging for many years. Very often, the images come out muddy.

The best results have been prime focus but you are limited to fairly low magnification. Eyepiece projection for me usually result in distorted edges where I have to crop the middle of the image. Afocal meanwhile results in too many lenses in the light path so color and contrast get reduced and the image comes our "greyer".

Using the Pentax adapter gives me the best of prime and eyepiece projection photography. My images are as sharp as prime but I get much more magnification. The observed magnification I get seems to be equivalent to a 15mm eyepiece. Should I desire more magnification, I just add a barlow or Televue Powermate.

What is really awesome is because this adapter is designed to go into a 1.25" eyepiece holder, I can use my camera adapter combo on astro scopes as well. Even better, there are now K mount to other camera mount adapters available. So you aren't limited to using Pentax cameras. For example, I'm actually using this with a Sony Alpha Nex 7 camera!

Buy this item if you are into terrestrial or astro photography. This is one of the best $300 spent in a very long time (and I'm a person with Pentax XW/Televue Ethos/Delos eyepieces and focal reducers)

ASUS A55A-AB31-PK 15.6-Inch LED Laptop (Pink) Review

This is a 3rd Generation Intel processor combo, CPU/Graphics ... smaller die size means runs cooler, faster, better graphics, longer battery life. This model has 4 GB RAM ... I added 4 GB more (make sure the added memory is 1600 mHz frequency not 1333. The screen is bright and clear, though I don't know how color accurate it is. The keyboard is excellent ... the touch pad requires only a light touch, but is tricky when typing a lot. When keyboard adapter is plugged in, can setup to auto turn off pad, nice. I prefer an external mouse. Speakers are okay (for a laptop, but no bass frequencies). External Speakers are obviously much better. Wlan (WiFi) has good range. Though I am adding an Alfa wireless range extender...for use in boonies ... see below (1). Camera and microphone are fine for Skype like chats. No bluetooth, but it can be added via USB 2.0 adapter. SD camera card reader is actually SDHC ... I like the new USB 3.0 ports ... two of them and one USB 2.0 ... total of three ... nice.

Overall, a well made, great performing laptop by ASUS ... fast, runs cool and has reasonable battery life for a non SSD storage drive system. Tons of storage ... 750 GB HHD ... Pricing is very competitive. The instant on is really nice. I prefer ASUS build quality, reliability and customer service... one of the best in the industry.

Amazon customer service has also been outstanding on this and many other items I have bought. Cooperative and helpful.

JBL LC2CH 4-Way, High Performance 6-inch Dual Wall-Mountable Center Channel Loudspeaker (Cherry) Review

I've been using the LC2 for about a week and a half now, primarily for multichannel music listening, but also for a lot of movie watching too. It is a dynamic and very full range center channel compared to many on the mass market. I chose it specifically to mate with my L880s as FR and FL because they drivers are matched well (though the porting and cabinet volume contribute to significantly lower range on the L880s than the LC2). My Onkyo TX-SR606 crosses the LC2 over at 60 Hz (with its rated bottom end being 50 Hz, this is a reasonable roll-off crossover).

It seems ridiculous to have to say this, but it is not up to the task of being a full range tower speaker (thankfully *not many* expect it to be since it was clearly designed as a center channel for on-wall mounting), but if you're looking for a dynamic center channel, you'd be hard pressed to beat this one's capability for the price. It images well, as do all the L series speakers from JBL, and it has a distinct advantage over the LC1. Technically the LC1 is a two way MTM (midrange-tweeter-midrange) design, which is prone to lobing (overemphasizing some waves due to bolstering from both sides) and muddying the sound with the HF response in between the two mids. The LC2 is designed as a true vertical array through its midrange 4" transducer, with the bass transducers on the sides (which eliminates lobing issues). This is ideal center channel design.

Pros:
-Good musicality
-Very natural sounding dialogue (M and F)
-Excellent imaging
-Great dynamic range for movies and music (when properly amplified >=75 W RMS by test, not manufacturer spec)
-Handsome looks in cherry
-VERY well paired with L880s for soundstage transparency
-Vertical array design better for sound (see above)

Cons:
-Size may be an issue for some (not for me, but this sucker is big compared to your other mass market options; I'll post a photo for size reference)
-Biwiring capability more gimmick than real benefit
-Needs good solid power to sound its best (not really a con, but its honestly hard to come up with three)

In short, this is an excellent center channel for movie watching or music as long as paired with relatively good voice and timbre matches for front soundstage. These are your three most important speakers so don't skimp! Strong advantage in design over LC1 and other MTM designs.
