I didn't have uber-high hopes for this unit, but I did anticipate it matching the quality of a friends older Crosley Stack O Matic. I bought the player for sporadic use at my kitchen. The unit is visually appealing and the horn adds a certain flair, but the output of the horn is nearly non-existent and the plastic construction is a bit hokey. The unit does not put out adequate sound volume in my opinion and the needle skips sporadically (it's not the vinyl). I think this unit does a fairly good job at the $83 price that I paid with free shipping. I do anticipate giving the unit away in a year or so and going full unit assembly - receiver, pre amp, and Techniques turntable from KAB USA, speakers. I did use the audio outs to connect to a Bose wave radio, but the volume and sound quality are still just adequate. In retrospect, I'd probably drop the dough for a Stack O Matic, but in the long run, if you want a quality system with a little volume, it seems you have to pay for it and the 'built in preamp / ready to go' players like this are not going to satisfy over the years.
