While it's a bit of a learning curve to just pick up and use, it's been a lot of fun for the kids and I. We use it to go geo-caching in Japan. I was quickly able to intuit the fundamentals, being familiar with other Garmin products. I quickly learned that this has so much more to offer. I enjoyed the direct link to the computer, allowing me to push geocaches directly to it and to plan my route on the computer and push it to the 550T. The one down side I've found is it's not easy to determine which files are safe to delete without losing critical files. Many of the blogs recommend backing your data up and what's lost through a trial and error delete, can be recovered. I wholeheartedly agree! Other than that I find it impressive that it includes not only rechargeable batteries but the charger as well - they could have sold this at the same price with a lot less in the package. Battery life is great, here in Japan I get a 2-3m resolution. Camera does well, I didn't find a zoom function, only had it out once so maybe I overlooked it. It's a little heavy and the screen a bit small (though easily visible in all light conditions) - I think the newer model has similar feature with a larger screen.
