These are shots I took using the cobracrane backpacker.

I bought this jib arm crane because I was impressed with the videos of some other folks who took this crane to the mountains, literally backpacking with it. It is a functional crane for shooting vertical moving masters, and basic pan-and-tilt masters where the jib is on a straight axis pointing at the subject. With tilt control at the tripod, you can hold your subject in the frame as you crane up or down, or let the tripod handle go and the camera will stay level throughout the crane movement. Fits most a1-sized cameras or DSLRs. Setup is easy with practice.

PROS:
it's light, has only one arm, you can control the tilt as well as the height from the tripod position, or it can just stay level as you crane up and down, fits indoors and gives the maximum reach of a normal ceiling.

CONS:
it is cable controlled, which means that you have to adjust or tighten the cable according to the mission, and it has a tendency to tilt to the left, away from the jib arm.

I found that you can eliminate the tilt by tightening the bolts, but since they are the same bolts that adjust the sprocket torque, you have to adjust it carefully.

TIPS FOR BEGINNERS: (1) like all jib arms, you do need a counterweights. And (2) a jib arm is NOT FOR LIGHT DUTY TRIPODS. In fact, one thing that was not in the advertising is that this jib includes a fitting for a MANFROTTO 501PL TRIPOD PLATE, for the manfrotto 501 and 701 tripod heads. You can use other tripods, though.
