I bought this tripod for a travel tripod for my D300 with 18-200 VR and 55mm lens. I did not think I would go longer than 200mm with this tripod but have heard that I could go to 300mm with good technique. Travel size was a major criteria to me. Weight was important to me. And obviously budget was important to me. Low level photography was important to me as I wanted to do macro photography without any tripod gyrations like inverting the camera, etc

This tripod meets all my needs and then some.
The large part of the legs are 28mm wide, which corresponds to Gitzo series 2, and the smallest section is still 19mm. I have seen some of these down to 15 or lower...
The legs do not spin when tightening or untightening them. This makes use of the tripod a lot easier.
It is 18 inches when folded using the longer post. That is seriously small without sacrificing stability. With the shorter post the legs may not be able to fold over the head and fit in the case without removing the head(see photos)
This tripod is seriously light (2.86 pounds). You have to feel that to really internalize how light that is.
With the shorter post, you can get down to less than 6 3/4 inches.
The carbon appears to be high grade.

Other points I really like:
Each leg has metal spikes built in. Just screw the rubber cap and the metal spike appears.
The weight holder (at the underside of the tripod)is spring loaded and goes flush so no inadvertent grabs...
One of the legs unscrew and you can load a piece to allow it to work as a monopod (53 3/4 inches) complete with hand strap. This feature is going to be more useful than you might think. I expect to be able to bring the tripod hiking and for short special purpose hikes, just use the monopod.
I don't normally like the central post but when I do it will allow the base of the head to be at nearly 65 inches. With the small post it is almost 55 inches. I think this is how I will use it most.
One of the legs of the tripod (the monopod one) has a padded foam cover over the upper section. It is removable by zipper.
There is a nice nylon carrying case complete with shoulder strap and a little tool kit with two hex adjusters
This tripod has a 6 year warranty. They are a new company to the US and want to get across that they are quality.

In summary I spent a long time reviewing tripods and did not have a huge amount of money to spend to get a Gitzo. I was almost set on a Feisol but really wanted to use Amazon money. This tripod ended up being about 100$ cheaper than the equivalent Feisol (including spikes) and appears to be built just as well. I am expecting to get lots of mileage out of this tripod. I don't think that you can go wrong with this one. I have uploaded photos to supplement the company ones.
