The intercom arrived in a timely manner and was easy to install using 18awg wire.

The camera uses an LED light so the image is good in dim or normal light. However, during daylight when the sun is shining in the background the image becomes too dark to make out the features on the persons face. Basically, you can just see their outline. This also occurs when the overhead light is on at night.

Another disadvantage is that it is the monitor is powered by a plugin cord which has a transformer built into it. Because of this, the unit can't use a behind-the-wall power supply. The power cord hangs down from the bottom of the unit and plugs into an AC outlet making it look like an unprofessional or cheap installation.

Other than the points raised above, the unit has some useful features:

- uses low gauge wire;
- the camera can pan up, down and sideways;
- it can be wired to an external doorbell (the built-in bell is not that loud);
- it can record images using a memory card (which is not supplied and I haven't tried it yet);
- it can be extended by adding additional monitors on other floors;
- it can be use a remote door lock to unlock the door (not supplied);
