I got this system on sale somewhere else. I couldnt find a bunch of reviews about it so I decided to share with everyone my experience. The price I got it for was too good to be true so I decided to take a chance. Its a nice little system. When I say little, the receiver is very small in comparison to other receivers, almost half the size of the receiver I previously had. My primary concern was size as I needed it to fit in a certain space in my cabinet so this worked out nicely.
I have it hooked up in 5.1 mode and sounds really good. I think it is neat how you turn it on and it turns all of your other equipment on and you tell it what you want to do (watch tv, watch a movie, play music). I think for the price I paid and the features it offers it was a great buy. Now if I had to pay the regular price, I would have had to think twice about that.

Ok I wanted to provide an update on the Yamaha YMC-500. I have had it working for a few months. It sounds REALLY good. The only thing that was agitating me was the fact that I had to use the controller that came with it and then switch to another controller to control my tv and satellite receiver (that is the only reason that I gave it FOUR STARS instead of FIVE STARS). I resolved this issue by purchasing a logitech harmony 300 remote. This remote controls my Yamaha YMC-500, my tv, my dvd player, and my satellite box (doesn't control every feature on the satellite box). Push the off button on the harmony 300 and all of the equipment goes off. Really nice addition to the Yamaha YMC-500.

One more update on the Yamaha YMC-500. It has now been six months and it is still working and going strong. A really good purchase even with the remote control issue.
